Matthew 15:18-20 18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. 19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. 20 These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man.
Heart Check: Lord, I pray today that this verse would make us pause and make change. First, highlight those things that we either allow to fester in our heart or that we continue to expose ourselves to, specifically those things that are defiling us. Then, let us intentionally take them before you every time we are tempted to give in or associate with those things. Father, some of those things have had a hold on our hearts for a long time. Help us to remember that ridding our hearts of these things takes time and effort. Thank You for caring Lord. In Jesus’s name I pray, Amen.
